L'Heure Bleue
A pale dreamer on a black horse, beneath a crescent moon.
Her white cape is scattered with hundreds of tiny flowers in every colour
— as if she were carrying a whole spring inside a winter world.
Water lilies float at her feet.
The landscape around her is cold and blue and misty and very still.
She shouldn't feel like spring. But she does.

I painted her in February for the Lunar New Year, the Year of the Fire Horse.
She is warmth inside the cold, hope inside the blue.
She is courage wearing flowers.
I named her L'Heure Bleue,
and then I realised she had to give her name to the whole collection.
